Blue Curlicue Roses

It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince. My mother got sick after Christmas last year. She had abdominal pain that was not relieved by analgesics. I was worried with the persistence of the on and off pain that we brought her to the hospital where she was subsequently admitted, after abdominal CT scan and MRI revealed enlarged and inflamed gall bladder with gall stones. She was subjected to Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (removal of the gall bladder through four small punctures in her abdomen). Amazing how she was able to survive the surgery at the age of 93! Praises to God! But this post is not about the surgery or how she recovered from the ordeal.

Curlicue Roses pattern by Fiber Flux

Wohoho! It's a real nice feeling to be able to post anew after more than a week! Gosh, I've been craving to do this all the time but the volume of work just prevented me :( I was browsing my Blogger dashboard when I saw a new post by Fiber Flux. Oh, you should see her curlicue roses! Here, click on this link to see her work. Fiber Flux... Adventures in Stitching: How to Crochet a curlicue Rose See, they are just so pretty that I was so inspired to make my own. Her pattern came at such a perfect time, while I was packing for a trip out-of-town. I was invited by my husband to join him while he attended a two-day workshop for the university where he's working as mathematics professor. My schedule allowed it :) and so off I went! Perfect time for me to unwind... relax, crochet, stroll around and bond together. Hmmm... I also had some time to organize my files in my computer :) I will feature the resort in a separate post. Did I say crochet earlier? Oh yes, o...

Blue and White Apple Blossom Showcase

Hello there! I have this unexplainable addiction to roses and rosebuds lately and look at what I made last Sunday.  White and blue roses as necklace for my uniform. I used variegated blue and white yarn for the smaller roses.   I've been wanting to make a rose for the bag I'm bringing to the office every Monday and Wednesday because I imagined it would make a perfect match to our uniform. But I suddenly changed my mind. Instead, using the Granny Rose pattern of Apple Blossom Dreams , I used for the rose identifiers of Mae Ann in A Rosy Adieu and Eleanor in A Promise of a New Beginning ,  I decided to make a necklace like what Crochet Dynamite did in the Recycled Rose Necklace which I also featured in my post ( The Crochet Dynamite ) last February. Thank you, Astri, for the pattern! Have a great week ahead, everyone! =========== Linking to

A Rosy Adieu

"...So long, farewell Auf Wiedersehen, goodnight I hate to go and leave this pretty sight So long, farewell Auf Wiedersehen, adieu Adieu, adieu To you and you and you.." An excerpt from an old song from the soundtrack of a popular movie of all time, The Sound of Music, one of my family's favorites! (My family loves musicale movies that my kids, even in their early adult age, still enjoy watching.) In my heart, I sing the song to two dear colleagues to whom we said our farewells. I wasn't present during the send-off party, instead, I gave each one of them a rose bag/luggage identifier very much like what I made in the past (see my two previous posts about roses and rosebuds, Rose Buds as Identifiers and Rose Garden ) only that this time, I used the Granny Rose pattern of Astri from Apple Blossom Dreams . But instead of making granny squares with roses at the center, I just followed the pattern for the rose. Astri's granny rose pattern doesn...

Falling in Love at First Sight

A very timely post for this month's lover s' day celebration. For this post, I am featuring the Pink Meringue Cowl by Jennifer Dickerson. When I saw this cowl, I fell in love with it in an instant. I simply love its color!  Pink Meringue Cowl Reading through th e blog led me to the Free Crochet Pattern... Meringue Cowl , another blog which features the pattern  Jennifer Dickerson used for the Pink Meringue Cowl.   Free Crochet Pattern... Meringue Cowl The pattern is easy to understand and the steps very simple, one could finish it in jiffy! But wait... I don't have that very same color as th e pink meringue cowl in my stash :(( I would have wanted to make exac tly one like that but I ha d no choice but to make do with the best variegated yarn available from the nearest craft store. The rainbow color, I thought, would match any shade of tops. Well, I had to start working as time wa s running short... My, my , my , time indeed has run fast... s...

Rose Garden

“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.” ― Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry , The Little Prince Happy Saturday, everyone! Woke up this morning to accomplish my first goal, that is, to accompany my husband for his regular blood examination. On our way to and from the laboratory, while my husband was driving, I was able to crochet 3 rosebuds--- yellow, orange and blue. Wow, I missed doing that for several weeks now, after the Christmas holidays! The truth is, I still owe a few friends the crocheted give aways intended for them. The back-to-work load in the office has been piling up faster than I could catch them, so I badly need a breather at home. That's precisely the reason why I've been posting only about food for several weeks now. Now, rose garden here we go... my new batch of roses in different colors... inspired by the rose buds from Fiber Flux Luggage Blossoms which I featured in my post entitled, Rosebuds...

Rose buds as identifiers

"...What’s in a name? that which we call a rose  By any other name would smell as sweet…" By William Shakespeare    Hello, I'm very proud to show you the very first rose I have crocheted ever. I must confess that I haven't ever crocheted anything like this before, yet I have always wanted to. It's just that I didn't have any pattern at hand...until   I saw these rosebuds and roses as luggage blossoms in Fiber Flux . I like the idea of rose blossoms for luggage. When I was a young student, my mother used to tie folded or crumpled thin colored plastic bags on the handle of my luggage. The idea is for me to see my luggage sliding down the conveyor from a distance. What a very nice and unique luggage identifier eh? Photos from Fiber Flux Unfortunately, the pattern featured was for knitting. So I had to search for crochet patterns for roses. The search led me to the following blog sites: Free Craft Project   Photos from Fre...
