My colleagues at work just came back after attending a research symposium in Singapore.
The symposium was held at the Novotel Clarke Quay which has a strategic riverside location in the Central Business District. This precisely brought back to my mind one evening spent at Clarke Quay four years ago.
Now I am reminiscing... Coming from a three-day conference in Bali, Indonesia, my husband and I planned to meet our two daughters in Singapore where our airline was scheduled for a layover. We thought it would be a perfect time for a family bonding out of the country for the first time.

And so here goes the adventure...
Day 1: From the Chiangi Airport, upon arrival in Singapore, we looked for Perak Hotel in Little India, where we booked ourselves for two nights. A colleague of my husband suggested the place. Decent and affordable in a quiet neighborhood.

It was here where I got a taste of coconut rice for the first time, which my daughter and I both liked.
An evening at Clarke Quay
The night was young, so off we went to witness night life at Clarke Quay. We strolled around the area.

See all the photos below. It's pretty obvious, we couldn't seem to get our eyes off the river, with all its glimmering, shimmering lights.
I couldn't remember how many times we went round and round the area, taking photos of the river, the boats...
the buildings across...
and of ourselves, of course!
A little bit closer, please... okay, that's it!
Then we had to look for a place to dine. We realized we were starving after all the walking!
That's where we had a family serving of paella negra.
After dinner, we strolled around the river once more before finding a ride back to the lodge. The sight of the water with all the bright lights was so cool, we couldn't seem to take our cameras off. But we were all tired from travel, Billy and me from Bali, Indonesia, and Ayana Grace and Ana Cristina from home.
