Showers of Blessings

Networking along the blogosphere,  attending link parties, blog hopping and socializing with bloggers have led me to Julie Danielson's blog site, More of Him. Julie is a wife and mom who loves and follows the Lord, Jesus Christ. Julie is a writer and artist who at the same time, enjoys crocheting, embroidery, scrapbooking, stamping, quilting and beading. Blessed so much by the Lord, she shares her blessings weekly in her blog site's Counting Our Blessings - Link Up.

Before inviting bloggers to share their links, she would enumerate God's blessings to her such that joining her weekly link up has made me aware of the ups and downs in her Christian life. Her weekly list has sent showers of blessings into my own direction. This in turn has inspired me so much that today, I am led to count my blessings and share them with others, too! As the chorus of the popular Christian hymn, Count Your Blessings (written by Johnson Oatman, Jr. and composer Edwin Excell) goes...

"...Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done..."

... so here, let me count my blessings and name them one by one.

I am blessed that despite the asthmatic episodes I've been through for the past weeks, I am still able to  report for work and do my household routines for the family. Although I confess, there have been times when getting up from bed becomes a real struggle after getting awakened by irritating bouts of allergic cough in the middle of the night. The extreme change in climate has affected me so much--- too much cold environment at work and too much heat outside, plus the daily stress at work...

Praise God that the turbuhaler prescribed by the doctor has finally given me some relief. This has allowed me to join the congregational singing last Sunday in our church!

Thanks to Him who never gets tired of showering us with provision for our daily needs and protection for all members of the family. By His grace, we are able to enjoy the simple joys in life.

Lastly, for this post,  I give Him thanks for the coming long weekend :)) that I can enjoy bonding with my family.
Now, your turn to share your own blessings! Share them in the comment box below!

  1. I am glad that you are feeling better! My asthma used to wake me up at night too. In fact, sometimes I felt like I had an elephant sitting on my chest.

I would cough so much that I would gag and sometimes even throw up. I used to take my albuterol inhaler four times a day, and even then I still had trouble.

Now I only take my inhaler a few times a year (if I get a cold or something). I take singulair and Flovent every day and that has really helped tremendously.

I also get allergy shots and that helped even more. I saw a huge change when I went on the daily medication, and I saw added improvement when I went on the shots.

I pray that your doctor is able to find a medicine plan that will work for you and totally control your asthma!

Thanks for linking up to "Making Your Home Sing Monday!" :)

Pesto Spanish Sardines Pasta: A Remake

There's a saying that goes, "One is enough, two is too much..." Uh uhhh, not for this!!! I'm referring to the Spanish Sardines Pasta which was my welcome post this year. My daughter, Ayana Grace, bought a bottle of pesto from the grocery store last month (she usually does...we seldom run out of pesto sauce in our cupboard) and I just wasn't able to resist making another try of the Pesto Spanish Sardines Pasta so here it is... Ingredients: 2 tbsps reserved oil from bottled sardines 2 tbsps olive oil 1 tbsp minced garlic 1/4 cup diced tomato 1 cup flaked Spanish sardines 1/3 cup Pesto sauce 1/4 cup pitted black olives 1/4 cup button mushrooms 1/2 kilo pasta noodles, cooked according to package instructions salt and pepper to taste Whole pieces of Spanish sardines (1 piece as topping per serving) Parsley for garnish   Steps: In a large saute pan, heat oil from sardines. Add olive oil as needed. Saute garlic until fragrant. Add diced

Ensaladang Mustasa

It's back to work today, after five days of rest, something I've been looking forward to. As if the  long Christmas holiday vacation was not enough :) Well, days just seem to fly so fast! Thanks to the additional non-working holidays brought about by the Pope's visit to my country, the Philippines. I had time to relax, stay at home, bond with family and yes, sort picture files in my computer. In between social networking, of course, I cooked for my family. With my husband home, there has to be fish and vegetables on the dining table. There was a bunch of mustasa (mustard) leaves left in the vegetable bin. What could be a better and perfect partner to fried fish than Ensaladang Mustasa (Mustard Salad)? Very simple and easy, here's how I did it. Ingredients: 1 bunch of mustasa leaves Rock salt 2 medium-sized tomatoes, sliced 1 small onion, sliced thinly 3 tbsps vinegar Iodized salt, ground pepper and sugar to taste Steps: 1. Cut mus

Ensaladang Alugbati (Malabar Spinach Salad)

This post appeared in my Facebook memories today. I'm glad it did! I featured this salad in my FB page a year ago.  Alugbati  (Malabar Spinach)  Salad (Ensaladang Alugbati). This came up when I received for the first time this bouquet of alugbati from Erik, my officemate. He shares with us fruits and veggies fresh from his garden.
